We are proud to announce the AHS Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Kristi Greger. Mrs. Greger's response when she heard the news: When I found out I had been voted Teacher of the Year, I was so taken aback (and was driving down I-75 🙂). I like being in the background and working behind the scenes and was surprised to find myself as TOTY. I am so honored to be a Tiger and work with those that love the hard to love, the easy to love, the high achievers, and those that do the hard work to walk the stage at the end of each year. AHS a great place to be! Bio: I wanted to be a teacher since I was a little girl playing school with my little sister, Wendy. As an adult, my first teaching experience involved a student on the Autism Spectrum. He sang Disney songs to me as we worked and I was hooked. Shortly I began to plan for a Masters in Special Education. My heart has always been drawn to the students that need someone and Special Education provided the opportunity for me to live out my passion to help those that need it the most. Education: 24 years in education 21 in Special Education Bachelors from William Carey College in Hattiesburg, Mississippi in Elementary Education Masters from University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg, Mississippi in Special Education National Boards of Professional Teaching Standards in Exceptional Education in 2001 Family: Married to Mark Greger, professor at GA Highlands 3 kids - Noah 12 - Abigail 8 - and Amelia 6.
